Music Booster Talent Showcase
"Want to share your talents? The popular Winton Woods Community Talent Showcase, sponsored by the Winton Woods Music Boosters, is coming up Sunday, January 15, 2012. Go to the Music Booster website - music.wintonwoodsboosters.org for a link to the online application. Online applications must be received by December 30, 2011 to be scheduled for an audition. Auditions will be held the first week in January. Questions? Please contact Kara Barbee at barbee.kara@wintonwoods.org. We know Warriors have talent, what's yours?"
Finally things are in the works for the 2012 Talent Showcase! This year we have an online application that I encourage everyone to use since it will make collecting the data so much easier! The direct link to the online application is:
Online applications will be received through December 30, 2011 (to give me time to contact people to schedule auditions). I have attached a paper copy of this year's Talent Showcase application as well; these are due to me next Thursday, December 15, 2011.
Auditions will be the first week we return from the December break on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I will put in the building requests, finalize judges, etc.; all I need from you is to help publicize this event!
For those interested in more details:
The only big change from previous years is that there is a $5 non-refundable application fee instead of the $25 refundable fee. The $5 helps to ensure that only serious acts sign-up and it helps to off-set some of the production costs.

Glee Competition Update
The Winton Woods High School Music Department has made it to the next level of competition with the video they made for the Glee "Give a Note" Contest. "We‟ve made it to the next round of judging, and the video is being reviewed by the panel that will determine the winners," said Elizabeth Barth, assistant choir director at the school.
The contest will award $1,000,000, with 73 schools winning between $10,000 and $50,000. Barth said the Winton Woods video team chose a "reality vs. dream" theme, showing the reality of what the band, orchestra and choir programs work with on a daily basis--but focusing on the fact that Winton Woods music students never give up on their dreams.
A Cappella groups travelled to Kettering Fairmont High School
Barth said the students also participated in workshops with specific topics such as solo singing, vocal percussion and technology within an a cappella group. The day culminated with a concert featuring Mister Tim and Sonos. “This festival continues to be one of the highlights of the year for our a cappella groups,” said Barth.
