Dave Bell honored by the Kiwanis Club
David Bell, fine arts facilitator for Winton Woods City Schools, was honored by the Kiwanis Club of Greenhills-Forest Park as their 2012 “Citizen of the Year.” The club is donating a scholarship to Winton Woods High School in Bell’s name for a student who has been involved in the music program. “My father was a Kiwanis member, and this honor means a great deal to me on my levels, particularly the part that goes to help our students,” said Bell.
Bowling Green State University Middle School Honor Band
Winton Woods Middle School eighth-grade band students, from left, Ravyn Ramsey, trombone; Jack Schramm, percussion; and Zach Mavridoglou,baritone saxophone, were selected to participate in the Bowling Green State University Middle School Honor Band Nov. 9. The students spent the day at Bowling Green, toured the campus, and prepared five pieces during the day to perform in that evening’s concert.
OMEA District 14 Jr High Honor Band
Three Winton Woods Middle School band students were selected for the OMEA District 14 Jr. High Honor Band. Pictured with Band Director Kara Barbee are, from left, Betty Miller, second chair tuba; Abby Ewald, 12th chair trumpet; and Aversa Prentosito, second chair oboe. These students will perform in the OMEA Honor Band concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Anderson High School auditorium, 7560 Forest Road. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for children/students/seniors.
