Winton Woods musicians make community orchestras
Three band and orchestra students from Winton Woods High School have auditioned for and been accepted into other orchestras in nearby communities.
Ciarra Rucker will be playing flute with the Southwest Regional Orchestra. Their concert is 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at Mason High School. The orchestra is under the direction of Steven Huang, director of orchestral activities at Ohio University.
Devon Parker and Shanice Wiechman will be playing with the 85-member Great Miami Youth Symphony Orchestra, the official youth orchestra of the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra Association. Both students play violin. The orchestra is under the direction of Paul John Stanbery, and students come from all over the Tristate area to participate. The orchestra plays in public three times a year.
